ALWAYS LIVE & Frontier Present St Vincent – All Born Screaming Tour

One of the most innovative and fascinating presences in modern music, GRAMMY award-winning artist St. Vincent is thrilled to announce her long-awaited return to Australia this November with the All Born Screaming Tour.

Her first live appearances down under since 2018, St. Vincent (Annie Clark) will perform at two of the state’s most exquisite venues, in a tour exclusive to Victoria: St Kilda’s iconic Palais Theatre on Monday 25 November, and Ballarat’s newly refurbished, 149-year-old Her Majesty’s Theatre on Tuesday 26 November. The shows are proudly presented by ALWAYS LIVE, the state-wide celebration of contemporary live music supported by the Victorian Government through Visit Victoria, and Frontier Touring.

This tour follows the release of All Born Screaming, the seventh album from St. Vincent. The triple-GRAMMY-winning iconoclast’s first self-produced record, All Born Screaming is an invitation to test the limits of what is possible – and to then keep going. Featuring singles ‘Broken Man’, ‘Flea’ and ‘Big Time Nothing’ and brought to life with the aid of a highly curated roster of friends – Rachel Eckroth, Josh Freese, Dave Grohl, Mark Guiliana, Cate Le Bon, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Stella Mogzawa and David Ralicke – the album is an unadulterated expression of St. Vincent’s singular vision

Artists

Annie Clark made her recorded debut as St. Vincent in 2007 with Marry Me, quickly becoming regarded as one of the most innovative and fascinating presences in modern music. Her subsequent albums would include Actor (2009), Strange Mercy (2011), her self-titled fourth album and winner of the 2014 GRAMMY for Best Alternative Album. In 2017, her fifth album MASSEDUCTION would break St. Vincent into the U.S. and UK top 10s and win two more GRAMMYs (Best Rock Song for its title track, and Best Recording Package).   2021’s Daddy’s Home found St. Vincent channeling the hungover glamor and gritty sepia-toned soundtrack of 1970s downtown NYC to an ecstatic reception, ultimately winning her a second Best Alternative Album GRAMMY. Following a 2021-2022 global tour that reaffirmed St. Vincent’s status as one of live music's preeminent forces with headline appearances at the likes of the Hollywood Bowl and Radio City Music Hall, Clark would begin work on album number seven: Her first fully self-produced album (having co-produced every one of her previous efforts), All Born Screaming is St. Vincent at her most primal.  Featuring Clark leading “a curated group of rippers” through the brawny “Broken Man,”  the mordant catwalk sashay through the deafening assault of self-loathing that is “Big Time Nothing,” the sublime, elegiac earworm “Sweetest Fruit," All Born Screaming is equal parts spiritual desolation and rapturous acceptance. “If you’re born screaming, that’s a great sign,” says Clark, “because it means you’re breathing. You’re alive. My god. It’s joyous. And then it’s also a protest. We’re all born in protest in a certain way. It’s terrifying to be alive, it’s ecstatic to be alive. It’s everything.”

Telenova is widescreen music; cinematic in scope and ambitious in design. A tapestry of dark romanticism, slick musicianship and vivid aesthetics have fuelled the Melbourne outfit since their debut EP Tranquilize in 2021. Powered by the ubiquitous lead single Bones, plus the sweeping sonics of follow up EP Stained Glass Love, Telenova have been passionately embraced at home and abroad, thanks to support from BBC 6 Music, KCRW, Vogue Paris, NME, Triple J and more. Accolades of course followed, including the 2022 AIR Breakthrough Artist award, appearing on Triple J’s Hottest 100, embarking on multiple sold- out tours and appearing on almost every major festival lineup across Australia, and playing across eighteen different cities across Europe and the UK in late 2023. The distinctive universe of Telenova - shadowy, sample driven alt-pop with prominent trip-hop and electronica influence, plus a touch of playful energy - is the design of lead vocalist, songwriter and filmmaker Angeline Armstrong and multi-instrumentalists Edward
