The ALWAYS LIVE program is jam packed with affordable thrills for the whole family. We’ve compiled the  list; all you have to do is pop them in your diary.  

End of The Line in Belgrave, End of The Line in Frankston → Free | Saturday 23 November (Belgrave), Saturday 30 November (Frankston)

Starting off at the End….of the line. This year End of The Line is being hosted by Belgrave and Frankston (both only about an hour and a half-ish from Flinders Street Station on the train) for two Saturdays of rippin’ Aussie tunes.  

Belgrave will welcome The Slingers, FOOLS, Half Cut Hicks, Madi Colville Walker and Terra Rouge on Saturday 23 November; a line-up that will have locals grooving til after the sun has set. On Saturday 30 November  Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, Full Flower Moon Band, Kiwat Kennell and Erica Avenue will whip up good vibes and community spirit amongst those proud Frankstoners. Frankstonians? Frankstonites! 

While you’re there, be sure to support the businesses that keep Frankston and Belgrave thriving! Check out Iron River Bar & Grill, Frankston Brewhouse or Pier Hotel in Frankston and Micawber Tavern, The Black Bee Craft Beer & Wine Bar or Sooki Lounge in Belgrave.

ALWAYS LIVE On Sunrise → Free | Queen Victoria Markets | Friday 22 November

Do you want to eat the best olives of your life? Perhaps buy a fetching new hat? Tell your nearest and dearest you’re going to be on national TV? See an award-winning, multiplatinum artist perform live amongst the fruit and vege stalls at Melbourne’s iconic, beloved Queen Vic Market? Tick em’ all off your to-do list at once on Friday 22 November, when Sunrise on Channel 7 broadcast a very special live performance to kick off the ALWAYS LIVE 2024 season. If there’s a better reason to get out of bed in the morning, we haven’t heard it.

ALWAYS LIVE AT Persa Celebrating the Tibi Agency 1st Birthday → Free | Persa | Saturday 23 November

Tibi is Australia’s leading booking agency representing artists with lived experience of disability and chronic illness. This year they’re celebrating 1 year of providing pathways to a more accessible and inclusive music industry for everyone. R.em.edy, Mathilde Anne, Saint Ergo and SAMMM will all be gracing the stage at Persa’s freshly reimagined and revamped 380 capacity bandroom in the heart of Fitzroy. Hip Hip Hooray!

Emma Donovan & Friends → Free | Ian Potter Center, NGVA, Australia | Sunday 24 November

Ok, be honest; have you ever seen Emma Donovan belt? There’s a reason she’s one of Australia’s most celebrated artists. For her third year programming this special event, Emma’s invited a few of her favourite artists to perform, for free in the Wurrdha Marra gallery at NGVA Sunday 24 November. She’ll be joined by Deline Briscoe, David Arden, Candice Lorrae and Jayden Lillyst for an afternoon of performance, storytelling and community.  

Make sure you leave time before the show to explore the Wurrdha Marra Gallery (Ground Level of the Ian Potter Centre): visual art plays a significant role in the passing down of important, cultural knowledge and practices for First Nations communities.

A live podcast recording hosted by Victoria Kozbanis. Beers & Tears is your conduit to light-hearted and revealing conversations with some of Australia and the world’s best and brightest musicians. Listening to Dug By Us is like dropping into a conversation with your mates about the best new music. We’re going multi-dimensional with a live recording at The Workers Club this November. Hosted by self-confessed music nerds, its the easiest way to get ahead of the curve. They’ll be joined by The Naysayers who will be performing live and more, yet to be announced special guests.

ALWAYS LIVE AT The Barwon Club with Anthony B (JA) and DJ Banna (JA) and special guests → Free | The Barwon Club, Geelong | Wednesday 4 December

Geelong goes hard. The Barwon Club will welcome legendary Jamaican reggae ambassador Anthony B to its hallowed ground for an evening of red-hot reggae and dancehall beats; he’s not called The Original Fireman for nothing. He’ll be supported by Mr. Ram Dance Master himself DJ Banna and more special guests to be announced.  Just an hour and a quarter down the highway from Melbourne and all for free. What a time to be alive!

Yerambooee → Free | Fed Square | Sat 7 December

Several years in the making, two mobs come together for a collaborative ceremony called Yerambooee. Presented by Skinnyfish Music, Fed Square and led by Senior elder Aunty Jou Murphy, Wurundjeri, Woi-Wurrung and Yolngu from North-East Arnhem Land performers will unite on a huge sand circle for an afternoon of dance, collaboration and participation to celebrate the incredible legacy of Gurrumul and Barak.

Garage Band → Free | Bunjil Place, Saturday 7 December | Fed Square, Sunday 8 December  

You know that feeling when you discover an artist no one else knows about? A fun, syrupy secret. Now, imagine that feeling 20 times over! Like fossicking for gold in Sovereign Hill, Garage Band is all about uncovering the next generation of Victorian artists. Across two huge days of performances at Fed Square and Bunjil Place, Narre Warren 30 emerging artists will go from rehearsal space to main stage, against the backdrop of Australia’s live music capital: Victoria.
