Since 1959, the multi-purpose, open-air Sidney Myer Music Bowl has been an institute of Victoria’s thriving music scene.
From the long-running, beloved Carols by Candlelight to international sellouts like Metallica, AC/DC and Lauryn Hill, Sidney Myer Music Bowl has held some of the biggest shows the country has ever seen, all year round.
With the green surrounds of the Kings Domain behind it, and an iconic view of the Melbourne skyline backdropping the bandshell, it’s location means thousands of fans flock to enjoy some of the best live music our country has seen.
Over it’s celebrated history, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl stage has been graced by performers like Paul McCartney, Florence and the Machine, Kanye West, ABBA and Lorde, and taken over by festivals like Melbourne’s leading techno party-starters Hardware Group, Sun Cycle, Ultra, Rising and Falls Festival.
The SMMB even holds a world record, boasting the greatest concert attendance in the Southern Hemisphere, when The Seekers celebrated their return to Melbourne by playing to an estimated 200,000 strong crowd.
Along with plenty of ticketed events, the Bowl also stages a free concert series during the Summer by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of the Arts Centre Melbourne.
There’s no question that the Sidney Myer Music Bowl is deeply woven into the fabric of Victoria’s live music culture, and with plenty more shows already scheduled
